Quartz is formed in crystallized form and is composed of most part of silica (SiO2). Quartz which contains silica up to 99.50% is considered as the best quality of quartz. Usually quartz or silica is used in manufacturing semi precious gems. Many industries use it to manufacture glass and ceramic. The rigidity of quartz is like diamond. The bonding of quartz is crystalline which is why it has a higher melting point than Feldspar.
Quartz is used in manufacturing of semi precious stones, glass, ceramic and other forms.
- Ceramic β Quartz is hugely used in ceramics in many industries. It is added in certain to add strength to the tile or any other ceramic object. It is used in powder form which is between 200-300 mesh BSS, by the industries. Few industries also use itβs grit form.
- Glass β Quartz has a basic nature to melt and transform into a transparent substance. Therefore, it is widely used in industries which manufacture glass.
- Others β The purest form of silica is used in making silicon semi conductors. It is highly necessary for the silica to be in it's purest form.
